We can be reached at 574-293-6519. ***2010 BABYSITTER'S TRAINING CLASSES ARE NOW SCHEDULED*** This course will teach youth ages 11-15 years of age the responsibilities of being a good babysitter and what to expect from the person who will hire you. As a participant, you will also practice first aid and basic care skills. Learn leadership skills, decision making model, ages and stages of child development, care giving skills and first aid skills in this six hour course. Every participant receives a Babysitter's Handbook that serves as a ready reference for on the job. The handbook brings together information for youth who enjoy children and want to be a successful and responsible babysitter. General Training Information The Red Cross has been a leader in safety and health education for more than 80 years. Our courses are developed in collaboration with leading medical authorities and reflect the latest recommendations and techniques. Red Cross instructors provide high quality standardized training which results in certification that is widely accepted throughout the United States. The Elkhart County Chapter is also fortunate to have a new classroom that provides a comfortable learning situation and has easy, lighted parking.
Registration & Discounts Advance registration with payment in full is required for all our classes. The fees listed include all the books and supplies that are used during class. Telephone registration is accepted with payment arriving by mail within 5 days prior to the class. Public classes are taught at the Elkhart County Chapter's new facility located just off Middlebury Street at 721 Riverview Avenue in Elkhart. We offer discounts for taking multiple classes, however, they may not be offered on the same day(s). In order to receive the multiple class discount, you must pay for the multiple classes all together and register for them separate.
Refunds and Cancellations A refund will be issued for cancellations made at least 24 hours prior to the start of the course, less a $5 administration fee. American Red Cross reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration. Scheduled participants will be notified of cancellation via telephone three business days prior to the date of the class and may then ask to rescheduled or receive a refund.
Private Classes Groups may be trained as a private class at your work site, school, community location or another location. For more information, please contact Deb Moore at 574-293-6519.
A Few Things to Remember Many classes involve practicing skills on the floor. Therefore, we recommend that participants wear clothing that allows for easy movement. A pop machine is available to purchase drinks.
