The Red Cross Ryder Cup Invitational is an annual match play competition between the communities of Elkhart and Goshen Indiana. The competition is primarily to raise funds for the American Red Cross Elkhart County Chapter and to have a friendly golf match between the two communities. August 14, 2009 was the 1st Annual event. The matches were played at Elcona Country Club this year and then will be hosted at Maplecrest Country Club next year. The beautiful Red Cross Ryder Cup Invitational Trophy will be awarded to the winning team.
There was a total of 12 matches, 4 singles matches, 4 foursome (alternate shot) matches, and 4 Fourball (best ball) matches. The team with most cumulative points at the end of the tournament wins.
