Blood Services

Celebrate your unique ability to help save lives.  Donate Blood.

When it comes to donating blood, the American Red Cross means it when they say donors of all backgrounds are needed to help meet patient needs.  That need for donors is especially strong during the winter months since blood donations can decline week-to-week, and day-to-day, as poor weather conditions can make it difficult to travel to donate.  Those up-again, down-again donations can contribute to blood shortages, particularly of high demand blood types like Type O-negative.  And since cold and flu season can peak in February, more blood drives may experience increased deferrals and cancellations as regular donors struggle to stay well.  Remember, too, that giving blood is a great way to recognize your unique ability to help someone in need.  Blood type, like eye color, is an inherited trait, which means that the prevalence of particular blood types can differ among ethnic groups.
The Red Cross is committed to building and maintaining a diverse base of blood donors to help insure an adequate supply of all blood - be it Type A, B, AB or O.  Whatever your type, whatever your background, someone needs you.  And when you consider that February is Black History Month, American Heart Month, and a time for valentines everywhere, there's more reason than one to make or keep and appointment to donate blood and help save lives.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.  You may be able to give blood every eight weeks, up to six times a year.

                  Blood Mobile Schedules
The American Red Cross Donor Center is located at 226 South Main in Goshen will also be scheduling blood donation appointments on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Please call (574) 533-6390 to schedule your donor appointment.
