Battery Drop
In an effort to make sure everyone is safe and as part of the Fire Prevention campaign, on October 25th, local Red Cross volunteers went door to door helping residents check their smoke detectors. Concentrating on neighborhoods that have seen a higher number of fires, the volunteers wanted to make sure that every home or apartment had a smoke detector. For those residents who may not have one, a smoke detector was provided courtesy of the Elkhart City Fire Department. For any smoke detectors that were non-functional, the Red Cross provided a new battery and/or a new detector.
