Frank Connolly

Executive Director

After a nearly twenty year career as an Entrepreneur and management consultant to the venture capital industry, Frank Connolly decided to make a direct impact in other peoples lives by supporting the efforts of the American Red Cross.  Frank’s first experience with disaster was during September 11th when he lived in New York City.  Following the attacks on the twin towers he found his way to Chelsea Piers where he eventually became one of three people responsible for all operations there.  The efforts of the more than 1500 volunteers who worked there helped to feed, clothe, shelter and decontaminate the emergency workers at ground zero as well as provide a reporting and counseling center for friends and family of the missing.  This experience would prove invaluable when four years later Frank would go to New Orleans following hurricane Katrina and work with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.  That experience led him ultimately to the doors of the Red Cross.  In 2008 when Hurricane Ike was bearing down on Houston, Frank came to the Red Cross to offer his assistance.  He was provided training and quickly deployed to Texas to assist with the response efforts there.  His experience as a mega–shelter manager drove home the importance and excellence of the mission of the Red Cross and upon his return was offered a position with the chapter.  After serving as the Assistant Executive Director for three years, Frank assumed the role of Executive Director.  He continues to enjoy being a DSHR volunteer and deploying as a Sheltering and Finance Manager.
