Disaster Services

When Disaster Strikes...

Disasters are unscheduled and no one is immune to the onslaught of destructive weather, accidents, and fire. The Red Cross helps individuals and families affected by floods, tornados, natural gas leaks, and other disasters.

In Elkhart County, we have seen our own major disaster in the form of the 2007 Nappanee tornado. However, the most frequent disaster is still the single family fire. With your support, this chapter provides assistance to victims of fires on a weekly basis.

How the Red Cross Helps...

Assistance is given for food, clothing, shelter, and other personal humanitarian services that may be needed. While unable to replace everything that is lost, our funding provides the basic needs for a family that is facing a devastating situation. On-call 24 horus a day, 7 days a week, Red Cross disaster services stand ready to help those affected by disaster. The Red Cross cannot rewrite history, but we can make it easier for the those affected to get from today to tomorrow.
