Clara Barton

Ryder Cup Vineyards & Vibrations Red Carpet Clara Barton

Clara Barton was the founder of the American Red Cross.  As a humanitarian, Clara risked her life to bring supplies and support in the field during the Civil War.  In 1881, she founded the American Red Cross and led it for the next 23 years.  Her understanding of the needs of people in distress and the ways in which she could provide help to them, guided her throughout her life.

People depend on the immediate action of the Red Cross when Help Can't Wait-- down the street, across the country, and around the world.  And, for more than a century, the Red Cross has kept faith with the American public.  None of this would be possible without the support of our compassionate partners-- who understand that we are not a government agency and we rely primarily on the generosity of our neighbors to fulfill our mission.
